CentOS Connect was held in Brussels again this year, right before FOSDOM. I gave two presentations and was on one panel. I also participated in a HyperScale / Alternative Images workshop that was not recorded.
The presentation that got me the most positive response was also the one that I thought I had done the worst on CentOS Alt Image - Let’s Talk About it. I had a demo of installing our CentOS Stream 10 KDE image on a Steam Deck. Before I started, I had tested both my laptop and my Steam Deck on the projector and everything worked. But when it came to do my presentation, neither of them worked. On the You-Tube video, we cut out the first 18 minutes because it was just me trying to get the projector working. And yet people stayed. There was even a Register article written about it where I was directly quoted. In the end, I was able to do my demo, as well as announced that the AltImage and ISA SIG’s were going to jointly work on a CentOS Stream 10 RISC-V release.
I also went to FOSDOM where the highlight for me was meeting and talking to the creator of FreeSewing.eu.
